I have been teaching violin privately in Varanasi and Khajuraho since 2011.

During a class I endeavour to give all my attention to my pupil, and I play violin (or sing) as much as possible with him/her. Naturally, this method mirrors the way I have learned violin myself with Pt. Sukhdev Mishra - i.e. by practical immersion, and I teach Indian violin, i.e. I adopt the Indian posture and Indian tuning.

I try to listen to my pupil as much as possible and so the class depends greatly according to his or her age, background, capacity, wishes etc.

To this I must add that I am but a channel through which knowledge flows. I can but pass on what I have learnt from my guru, and I will also happily introduce my pupils to, or encourage them to meet him.

"Vio taught Hindustani Violin to our son (9 years old). We found her to be a professional, reliable and motivating teacher. Our son learnt some beautiful pieces of music and was inspired to see that his teacher was not only a dedicated student of Classical Music herself, but a performing artist. We would wholeheartedly recommend Vio as a violin teacher." - Leaf & Brendan (Australia)

"Many accolades to Vio for her great ability to reorganize several methods to play violin with ease, a great temp, wonderful sound, and confidence. Watching Vio's fingers on the violin is like magic. I truly miss her tutelage and I know coming back to study with Vio will be a great honor. Simply a divine performer and teacher!" - Moagi (South Africa)

"वियो बहुत अच्छी वायोलिन टिचर है. वह बहुत अच्छा वायोलिन बजाती है और बहुत अच्छी तरह से सिखाती भी है. वह मुझे बहुत अच्छी लगती है और वह थोडी सी अच्छी पागल है." (Translation: Vio is a very good violin teacher. She plays violin very well and she also teaches very well. I like her very much and she is also a little crazy in a good way.) - Udit, age 13 (India)
